2025/26 New Swimmer Assessments

Assessment Booking for 2025/26 Registration

All prospective swimmers must be assessed before registration

AVAILABLE BOOKINGS HAVE A GREEN "AVAILABLE" NEXT TO THE TIME SLOT

• Assessments are 5-10 minute sessions where a coach will observe the swimmer
• Following the assessment the swimmer will be assessed to an appropriate group for registration
• Families will be given group assignment and a registration access code.

Shark Developmental Programming Consists of 4 training groups. Older or more experienced swimmers can be assessed into our Competitive or Shark Fit groups.

ALL ASSESSMENTS ARE AT THE COMOX VALLEY AQUATIC CENTRE

Mini-Sharks:

• Swimmers born 2016-2019
• 2 weekly 40 minute practice
• 8 different groups to choose from
• Minimum requirement: swimmers must be comfortable in deep water, on their back and swim 25m freestyle

Squad 9

• Swimmers born 2015-2018
• 2 weekly 50 minute practices
• 5 different groups to choose from
• Minimum requirement: swimmers must be able to swim 50m Freestyle with proper side breathing and 50m Backstroke and show the ability to do dolphin kick and try breaststroke kick

Squad 8

• Swimmers born 2014-2017
• 2 weekly 55 minute practices
• 3 different groups to choose from
• Minimum requirement: Ability to swim all four competitive strokes with knowledge and complete a 100 IM

Squad 7

• Swimmers born 2013-2016
• 2 weekly 60 minute practices
• 2 different groups to choose from 
• Minimum requirement: Show ability to legally apply all four strokes and appropriate turns. Ability to swim sets and read a pace clock.
